Strawberry Jam, birthday boy

As the snow falls this morning I thought I better get 2 batches of strawberry jam made. Grandpa Nielson is coming in 10 day and I hope to still have some by then. The boys ate 2 loaves of bread for dinner last night. I think it is just going to get worse.
Ren on his 2nd birthday.
He loves to sing, Kam really doesn't have a mustache like that I don't know what is going on the this picture. The boys got cub scout cakes last night so the cake got double duty.

Cole and Wyatt need to finish there pine wood derby cars.
Kameron is preparing for his first track meet.
And I need to get the house cleaned for Doug. Well mostly so we can find all the lost things.
I finally kicked all the boys out of the bed again and got some really good sleep. Amazing how good you sleep with some room. I better get my day started.

"mom side"

Ren came up to me wanting something "mom side" He is pretty sad because winter came again today, and it is cold outside. He has a backpack on and Wes shoes on the wrong feet, ready to go. I wonder where he is headed?

Helmet time

The boys are enjoying some outside time. We haven't had a lot of luck with the kids and their heads lately. Wes had a bad wreck with Kam, and he bumped heads with Ren on the tramp. So as they are riding the trike together I thought it would be a good idea to break out the helmets.

Easter Break

I don't know if you can tell but I had to document the fact that Cole totally matches. That is a big deal in our house, because he could really careless what he wears. As long as it makes him look like he can run fast.

Wyatt is getting a ride from his brother.

Almost under the bridge.

The kids are on Easter Break, that is friday and monday. It is short but we are out of school may 21 this year.

What did you do today?

Doug is out of town this week so I thought I would tell him what we are doing today.

I was speeding down the road in Cody yesterday and got putted over, I knew I was going to get a ticket, I just knew it. I didn't have a up to date insurance card. But just a warning. Luckily all the kids where in seat belt for a change. I was going 42 in a 30 but it had just changed from a 35 but I didn't know that. Still defendantly speeding. The police man told me to have a nice day, and I told him I would now.

We got home from Cody and had a bingo for books and the RS dinner. With so much to do we all stayed home.

Ren, Wes, and I made cup cakes for the party on saturday. We need to color eggs sometime.
The boys and I went and saw Chris and Holly's new baby, she is little. They named her Emily. She has blonde hair and a cleft chin. Holly teased me that she has some of the Nielson line. Maybe all my kids chins aren't my fault. It was fun to see a new baby again.
Well, that is all I can think of right now. See you on thursday.

Retiring

Krista sent me this it was so funny I had to share.

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. We really have no trouble in finding interesting things to do.
For example, the other day I went downtown to go to the newsstand for the Wall Street Journal, so I could track my investments. I was only in there for about 5 minutes. When I came out, there was a cop writing a parking ticket. I said to him, "Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break"? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a "Nazi." He glared at me and wrote another ticket for worn tires. So I called him a "doughnut eating Gestapo." He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket.
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't care.... I came downtown on the bus. The car he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, "Hillary in '08." I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my health.

Home and recovering

We rented a house this year. It was prefect, alot of room, a pool. A very cold pool. It is Larry and Keisha, Josh and Becca, Brenda and Darren, Ruth and Steve (not pictured) and us.

I left my camera in the car, and this is what it came back with. This is at the Hoover Dam.

We went to a fancy restaurant called Ruth's Steve.

On our way home we caught something in the bad window. Ouch, it rained, snowed and was a mess getting home.

All in all it was a great trip. Can't wait till next year. Thanks to grandma and grandpa for watching the kids. Thanks to all our great friends, stay safe and we will see you next year.

Vegas Baby

Today is the day, we are headed out about 12:00. We are picking up Becca and Josh in Rock Springs and we will be spending the night in Park City. We are planning to stop in Delta on the way down. See Kollin's cemetery.

We need to get to Las Vegas and pick up Darren and Brenda at the airport, and we have a temple session after that. So a busy Wednesday.

I found some flower yesterday. Pretty exciting

this made my day!

I couldn't get the pictures to go on my blog so I had to put them in a slide show.
Can you see my tulips coming up? Pretty exciting. Wyatt and I got matching jerseys.
And did you notice the hair cut off. I don't think I have ever had it this short. I think when I was 8 or 9 my mom gave me a picky cut but not sense then. I don't think Doug is going to like it but sometimes you just need a change. Well I will be mourning my hair all week. Have a great week.

Check out my Slide Show!

Lander

Ren and I are having a fun time in Lander, there are lots of cute shops and fun things to look at. There isn't as many restaurants as I would likes.
Funny story Doug and I had our anniversary last night and where trying to find a nice restaurant . I one everyone told us to go to was closed for remodelling, so we found the Oxbow. It was interesting. To say the least not much romance on our anniversary because we where fighting each other for the bathroom. We are both feeling lots better today and going to be more careful tonight.
Lander got about 6 inches of snow yesterday Ren and I went hot tubing in the snow it was fun. Doug came and joined us after work.
Well I can't think of anything else to report on. I need to take Ren to the bathroom. Talk to you later.

What to do about Wyatt?

Everyone call Wyatt for his birthday. He will be at Grandma Jensen house. Probably shouldn't post their number. He is getting a new cowboys jersey, and a mp3 player. We are opening presents after school today and then heading out. I will get some pictures to post later.

Happy Birthday

I have a question for all you bakers. The last few times I have made this cake, it cracks, really bad. It cracks after I frost it. I thought maybe it was because it was still warm, so this time I let it cool down for a few hours. Still no luck, I'm trying to remember if it has ever turned out at this elevation. An ideas on how to make it work.
I wanted to say Happy Birthday to Doug today.
I'm so grateful for him. He is my best friend, my biggest supporter and the best dad ever. He can always tell when he shouldn't tease me and is so kind and patient with me and his boys. We are so lucky to have him in our lives. I love that he thinks I'm so cute, and tells me it often. Happy Birthday, Babe. I love you. Erica
